Benefit Dupes

Thursday, October 16, 2014

Hey guys! I thought I'd share some awesome dupes of my favorite Benefit products. The Benefit makeup items are pretty damn expensive so I thought I'd share some affordable options!

Benefit Dupes!

You want the beautiful, rosy Rockateur Blush? It's $22, but E.L.F.'s Studio Blush in 'Tickled Pink' is only $3 and is a pretty good dupe.

Gimme Brow runs for $22 but at Target you can pick up the Sonia Kashuk Tinted Brow Gel for only $6.

A great concealer for those pesky under-eye circles, Erase Paste, is $26 compared to Maybelline's Instant Age Rewind - the absolute BEST concealer I've ever used. And it's only $9 and will last you MONTHS.

The highly coveted and loved POREfessional is a whopping $31, which makes me cringe. A great dupe of this is the Maybelline Baby Skin primer - only $7.

Lastly, a favorite, the They're Real Mascara is an amazing product but it's $23 and the L'Oreal Voluminous Million Lashes mascara, for $9 is such a great dupe for this awesome product. It helps to lengthen and separate your lashes perfectly!

Did you enjoy this post? I think it's a great one because it'll help you save money and find products that will work just as good as higher-end ones!

Mascara Monday: Voluminous Million Lashes

Monday, October 13, 2014

Happy Monday friends!

Today is what I'm calling 'Mascara Monday' (for lack of any imagination and creativity) and I'm going to share my absolute favorite mascara of the moment (Hey, Alliteration!) which I've been rocking for ages now. It's the L'Oréal Voluminous Million Lashes and it's a classic. My mom, who doesn't ever wear makeup, wears this and so that’s the reason I actually tried it out!

This mascara is great if you want elongated, (semi) natural looking, and just voluminous (hence the name) lashes.

These two photos were taken 12 hours after I originally put it on - no flaking and just a flawless set of lashes still!

The formula is fantastically rich and dark and doesn’t flake or fall onto your face as the day goes on – it’s so long lasting. The wand has very small bristles – which is just perfect for getting every single lash, especially those hard to get lashes near the tear duct. The wand also separates each lash while also giving fantastic volume, without making it look spidery and false.

I really would consider it one of those classic mascaras – nothing too fancy but just absolutely dependable. I recommend it - you'll never get tired of it and it's completely perfect for both an everyday mascara look and just for a first coat to get all the lashes coated!

Have you ever tried this mascara? I love it!

Friday Finds: Magnificent Maybelline

Friday, June 6, 2014

Hello!!! It's another Friday (THANK GOODNESS) which means another addition of Friday Finds!! I know you're like SO excited....

This little 'Friday Finds' post that I have already done a second installment in, is potentially very disastorous for my wallet.... But alas, now I have an excuse to buy more.

All five of the beauty items I bought for today's post were purchased at Walgreens during an AMAZING SALE!!!!! This all didn't cost me that much. The four makeup items were only around 15 dollars - which is insane.

Here are the lovely things I've purchased!

1. Maybelline Color Tattoo in the shade 15 - Audacious Asphalt. First off, that name is amazing and I never thought that asphalt could in fact, be audacious, but maybelline has proved me wrong apparently.  I've only used Color Tattoo a few times and it's not my favorite product but it was on sale for $3 which I thought was a great deal. I love silvery/grey eye colors so I thought I would give it a go!

2. Rimmel's Natural Bronzer in 021 - Sunlight. I've been branching out with bronzers recently, actually making an effort to try a few different brands in order to find a product I really love. Walgreens had this a dollar off today so I decided to try it. I really like Rimmel products and I'm a huge fan of their translucent setting powder so I hoped this would be similar! I hope this works out!!

3. A tried and tested favorite - the Maybelline Falsies Mascara - was my third Friday Find. As many people can probably attest, this is a great mascara. And I was incredibly lucky that these $9 mascaras were on sale for FOUR dollars today. I had to restrain myself from buying about 30 more because I LOVE Maybelline mascaras.

Just look at the difference this mascara makes. It's just a really quality product!

Look at my left eye!!! Madness!!

4. Maybelline Master Shape Eye Pencil in Soft Brown. I know I'm a self proclaimed lover of the Milani brow products but I decided that since this brow pencil was on sale for just about $3, I would try something new. I really like the color!

5. Lastly, I purchased the John Frieda Hair Dye in Medium Natural Brown. Right now I've got a few different colors in my hair and I am really really ready to go back to my brown hair. I've used this dye before and have been pleased with the results - especially for a box dye.

That's it for todays Friday Finds!!! I will definitely start using these products and let you know which ones I like - they might even become a part of my June favorites!

Happy Weekend!!!

Let's Talk Mascara

Let's Talk : Mascara

If I could only live with one makeup item for the rest of my life, the clear answer would be MASCARA!!!!

I try to vary my mascara choices as much as possible just because it's one of my favorite beauty products and I am always searching for the perfect one!

Currently, I have a few mascaras that I am rotating through and I thought I'd do a little bit of sharing!

Firstly, on the more expensive end, Benefit's They're Real mascara ($23) is a favorite - on the better quality and more high end of things. I had heard amazing things about this mascara for the longest time but had always been skeptical because of the price and then I got a Sephora gift card so I decided to go for it. And let me tell you, this mascara did not disappoint. I really really love it and wish it wasn't $23 dollars!

Next is Maybelline's Volu'm Express Pumped Up! Colossal mascara. I bought this about a month ago and I have actually been greatly dissapointed by it. It goes on very clumpy and doesn't spread my lashes and coat them very well. I've been veering away from using this one lately.

Now for a better mascara! I love the Smashbox Full Exposure. Again, this is a bit pricey ($20) but I got this in a birchbox and was so pleased. This is really great quality and looks amazing on your lashes. I want to purchase this again!

Maybelline's Great Lash mascara. This mascara is my favoritest of them all. I have been using this for years and it's always been cheap, dependable, and does the trick. This is my go-to.

Maybelline's Volu'm Express Mega Plush mascara is another good mascara - but it isn't one I'd necessarily purchase again.

Let's do a little bit of comparison!

On the left, I'm wearing my great lash along with benefit's mascara. On the right, I'm wearing the colossal mascara. As you can see, my lashes are much longer wearing the great lash and benefit mascara, but more black wearing the colossal mascara.

The best combination in my opinion: The Smashbox Full Exposure with a coat of Great Lash on top. It gives me ridiculously long and dark lashes, which is what I aim for!

Hope you guys are inspired to experiment with your mascara!!!
